Does Condom Use Affect Sexual Pleasure?

Does Condom Use Affect Sexual Pleasure?

We know condoms can protect you against sexually transmitted diseases. And now a new study suggests they don't limit pleasure during sex, despite what many people think!

The study, just published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, used data from a national online survey of men and women aged 18 to 59.

Condom use is prevalent in the United States. More than 25% of men and more than 20% of women reported using a condom during their most recent sexual experience.

The big news out of this research: both men and women consistently rated sex as arousing and highly enjoyable whether or not they used a condom. And when a condom was used, there were no significant differences in pleasure based on condom type.

The researchers hope these findings will help health care providers educate people who are uncomfortable with condoms about the health benefits of their use.
