Olay Regenerist Ingredients

Cyclopentasiloxane
This is the “carrier” ingredient in the formula. It helps spread the other ingredients on the skin and then evaporates.

Water
Solvent for the aqueous ingredients in the formula.

Glycerin
Humectant which draws moisture from the air to the skin. When it’s really dry out it can draw moisture OUT of your skin.

Polymethylsilsesquioxane
Another silicone that gives the product a silky feel.

Niacinamide
A form of vitamin B3, this is the true regenerating work horse in this formula because it can reduce hyperpigmentation of the skin. Reducing so called age spots is one very visually compelling way to “regenerate” skin.

Dimethicone. Dimethicone crosspolymer
Two more silicones that give the product its barrier properties that help lock in moisture.

Panthenol
Pro-vitamin that supposedly moisturizes skin.

Butylene glycol, propylene glycol
Glycols can help bind moisture but are more often added to help control the product texture.

Palmitoyl pentapeptide–4,carnosine
There’s some evidence that these ingredients can stimulate collagen synthesis. Most studies are done in vitro (on skin cells in test tubes, not on actual skin) so it’s difficult to know if this complex really does anything in this product or not.

Tocopheryl acetate
Vitamin E ester and antioxidant.

Camellia sinensis leaf extract
Green tea extract.

Allantoin
Skin soothing agent.

Cetyl ricinoleate
Emulsifier.

Bis–peg/ppg–14/14 dimethicone, Peg–10 dimethicone, Peg–100 stearate, Peg–10 dimethicone crosspolymer
Emulsifiers that allow oily ingredients to mix with water and also thicken the product.

Disodium EDTA, Ethylparaben, propylparaben, methylparaben, benzyl alcohol, Citric acid.
Preservatives.
